Free and easy care garden mulch.
All the rain we are having is making the weeds grow. Mulching your garden beds is the easiest solution. You can use old carpet, flattened cardboard or thick wet newspaper around your pumpkin and zucchini plants as well as around your roses, shrubs and trees. Cover the carpet with lawn clipping, woodchip or bark or even coarse compost for an easy care garden.
Lay wet newspaper around smaller garden plants such as cabbages and broccoli and between rows of beans and corn and cover it with a good layer of unsprayed lawn clippings. Lawn clippings are also good between your rows of potatoes. What a resource they are at this time of year.
Mulched gardens require less watering and weeding throughout summer and earthworms thrive & multiply under the mulch enriching your soil with their castings. Healthy soil healthy food healthy people.
