About Us » Our Story
Mastagard is a New Zealand owned recycling services and waste collection company and has been operating in the South Island for over 30 years.
Mastagard operates its recycling plant from its 21,000 ft facilities in Bromley, Christchurch where we process over 30,000 metric tonnes of recoverables per year. This is product that would otherwise have been sent to the local landfill.
Mastagard operates its waste collection company from Woolston, Christchurch, where we also operate our local refuse station that is open to the public and is cheaper than city council refuse stations. Mastagard operates a full fleet of specialist recycling and waste collection trucks and employs over 60 staff,. Mastagard services thousands of businesses and households from Haast to Hokitika to Christchurch. Mastagard is committed to and remains a leading innovator in the recycling and waste management industry.
Westland District Council
In 2008 Mastagard was appointed by ‘Westland District Council’ as the Landfill and Transfer station operator to some of New Zealand’s most sensitive ‘World Heritage Parks’ and ‘National Heritage Areas’. We pride ourselves on being leads in recycling solutions, not simply ‘rubbish collectors’. All of the recyclables are transported from Westland to our Christchurch plant, were they are sorted and recycled. Some of the areas that we collect from are Fox Glacier, Franz Josef, Kumara, Whataroa, Haast and Hokitika. We are also working with the Westland District Council to transform the local Landfill at Hokitika into a transfer station.
