Mastagard is the South Islands largest privately owned independent recycling and waste company. We have a strong focus on recycling and diversion of waste from the waste stream. Mastagard doesn’t own landfills, and has built its business from recycling, and working with their clients to put tailored recycling systems in place to capture the maximum possible.
Mastagard owns and operates our state-of-the-art paper recycling plant here in Christchurch where your paper and cardboard is bailed and recycled responsibly.
Mastagard is the only company in New Zealand to have a state-of-the-art plastics recycling plant where we recycle rigid plastic into a reusable pellet.
Mastagard has just had further endorsement that we are at the forefront of waste reduction and recycling in more ways than one. Mastagard has recently been awarded Environ-mark NZ Bronze Status, an achievement that shows our company does more than just talk about environmental and safety issues within their workplace. To achieve a Bronze-level certification (Offered by Enviro-Mark®NZ) each organisation is third-party audited annually against compliance to the most commonly applicable environmental, health and safety legislation of New Zealand. There are 12 pieces of legislation at Bronze, which took them just two years to achieve.
As a company, we are large enough that we have the management team, equipment and financial resources to successfully implement and operate significant and complex contracts, yet, as we are a locally based firm, we can be flexible and responsive to customers changing needs.
